Edit PDF Online

Edit any PDF free, like Sejda's editor: type text anywhere (with fonts, bold and italic), draw your signature, highlight text, add rectangles, ellipses, lines and ✓/✕/○ marks, drop in images, or whiteout content you want to hide. Then download the updated file.

Quick edits without special software

Need to fill in a form, add a missing line of text, or drop your signature image onto a contract? To edit pdf files the fast way, GroPDF gives you three simple tools: add text anywhere on the page, place an image, or whiteout content you want covered up. No accounts, no installs, no watermarks — just open, tweak, download.

How to edit a PDF

  1. Drop your PDF onto the page. The first page appears in the editor; everything runs locally.
  2. Pick a tool: Text to type anywhere, Image to place a picture (like a signature or logo), Whiteout to cover content with a white box.
  3. Click on the page to place your addition. Drag to move it; adjust font size and color from the toolbar.
  4. Flip through pages with the arrows to edit more pages, then download the updated PDF.

Practical tips

  • Whiteout hides, it doesn't delete. It covers content visually with a white rectangle — fine for drafts, but don't rely on it to redact truly sensitive data, since the underlying content may still exist in the file.
  • Match the font size and color. Zoom in and eyeball the surrounding text; size 11–12 in dark gray blends into most documents far better than default black 18.
  • Signing something? Save your signature as a PNG with a transparent background, then place it with the Image tool — it looks far more professional than typed text.

Honest limitations

This is a lightweight editor, not a word processor: you can't reflow existing paragraphs or change the document's original text — you're layering new content on top. Complex layouts may shift slightly between the preview and the download, so always check the final file. For page-level changes like reordering or deleting pages, use Organize PDF instead.

After you download: double-check

Always open the downloaded file and flip through every edited page before sending it on. Check that text sits where you intended, images aren't covering something important, and whiteout boxes fully cover their targets. A 30-second review catches the mistakes that are embarrassing to discover after hitting send.

Steps at a glance

  1. Upload your PDF — the first page opens in the editor.
  2. Pick a tool from the toolbar: text, pen, highlighter, shapes, whiteout, or image.
  3. Click or draw on the page to add your edits; use undo if you make a mistake.
  4. Navigate pages, keep editing, then download the finished PDF.

Why edit PDFs with GroPDF?

Real PDF editors are expensive or demand accounts; most free ones watermark your output. GroPDF's editor covers the 90% case — annotating, filling, signing-ish markups — with a touch-friendly toolbar that works on phones too. Everything renders onto the page as permanent content, so your edits look the same in any PDF reader.

Common use cases

  • Filling in a PDF form that isn't natively fillable by typing text over the blanks.
  • Highlighting key passages in a contract before sending it back.
  • Adding checkmarks and notes to a proof or draft under review.
  • Covering a typo or outdated line with whiteout and typing the correction.

Things to know

This is an annotation-style editor, not a word processor: it adds new content on top of pages but can't reflow or delete the PDF's original text (use whiteout to cover things visually). Edits become part of the page image layer. For sensitive redactions, use the Redact tool instead — whiteout only covers visually.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the existing text in the PDF?

Not directly — the editor adds new text, drawings, and shapes on top of the page. To change existing text, cover it with whiteout and type the replacement over it.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The toolbar buttons are sized for fingers, and drawing works with touch. Pinch-zoom helps with precise placement.

Are my edits permanent in the downloaded file?

Yes. Annotations are baked into the page when you download, so they show in any PDF reader without needing GroPDF.

Can I add my signature?

You can draw one with the pen tool, or use the dedicated Sign PDF tool for a smoother signature workflow.

Is whiteout the same as redaction?

No. Whiteout only paints over content visually — the underlying text may still be extractable. For truly removing sensitive text, use GroPDF's Redact PDF tool.
